New to Birding or an eagle eyed expert. There are resources on this page for everyone. The best way to get started identifying birds is to pick up a field guide. A field guide can help put a name to most of the birds you see. A field guide typically shows birds of just a specific country or region. With practice you should be able to narrow birds to the correct family.
The Great Florida Birding Trail (GFBT), made up of 445 sites around Florida, is a fantastic place to go bird watching. The GFBT is designed to conserve and enhance Florida's bird habitat by promoting birdwatching activities, bird conservation education and economic opportunities.
The South Section of the Great Florida Birding Trail opened in January 2006 and consists of 116 sites in 12 counties.
The List of Florida birds (From Wikipedia) lists every wild bird species ever seen in the U.S. state of Florida, as accepted by the Florida Ornithological Society Records Committee (FOSRC). eNature is a great site. Careful or you may spend hours exploring their interactive wildlife database. |
