Iko Iko

as described on the UseNet:
If you're into live music and spent anytime in Miami, chances are you've heard the band Iko Iko. For many years, Graham Drout and Iko Iko have been a fixture in the South Florida music scene. While the band Iko Iko has seen many configurations over the years, the current ensemble of Larry Williams sophisticated twangy-blues, over the rock steady rhythm section of Mike Mennell and Stewart Jean, plus the honky tonk riffs of Ron Dziubla provides the best possible backdrop for the hauntily mesermizing tales sung by Graham Drout.
My first reaction to this new disc, before hearing it was the first class packaging! This 12 track disc is loaded with Graham Drout's original art work. As good the packaging is, the music is filled with energy. They've managed to capture the energy from live shows with tunes like"When the devil calls collect" to "bag me, tag me, take me away" and thegroove of "walk with the zombie".
I describe Iko Iko's sound as swamp-funk, with influences by the Neville Brothers, Willie Dixon, Allmans, Van Morrison, Grateful Dead, Santana,etc.......
The disc, "Protected by Voodoo", is on the independent "Little Silver" label out of Miami.
